Project description |
Pilot BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene sequencing was done in patients with family history of breast cancer and their healthy relatives. The results showed that the existing diagnostic tests of breast cancer in the world market include mutations that do not occur in Armenian patients.
Thus, the usage of nowadays existing tests in Armenian population is non-effective and significantly reduces the accuracy of the diagnosis. Studies aimed at developing available tests for screening of BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes mutations specific for the Armenian population and the sequencing of a whole gene are of great importance and can significantly improve the control, early diagnosis and prevention of hereditary and sporadic breast cancer in the Republic. |
